For three decades, the Health Fair has connected community members with local resources, services, activities, and organizations dedicated to improving health and well-being in Del Norte County.

Today we are sharing PATH's Year One Outcomes Report.

PATH (Providing Access to Hope) is Del Norte County's mobile crisis response program, designed to meet people where they are during behavioral health crises and connect them with the support they need.

During PATH's first year of operation, from February 2025 through February 2026, the team responded to 177 calls throughout our community. Those calls resulted in service linkage, safety planning, crisis intervention, and support for individuals and families during some of their most challenging moments.

What stands out most is the impact. Approximately 80% of actionable calls were resolved in the field through support, de-escalation, safety planning, and connection to services. Only 9% required hospital or law enforcement involvement, demonstrating the value of providing behavioral health crisis services directly in the community.

Behind every call is a person, a family, and a story. The numbers tell part of the story, but the real success is found in the individuals who received support, avoided a trip to the emergency room, connected to ongoing services, or simply had someone show up when they needed help.

Thank you to our PATH team and to the many community partners who helped make this program possible, including local law enforcement, EMS, healthcare providers, schools, Tribal partners, and community organizations. Together, we are building a stronger and more compassionate behavioral health system for Del Norte County.

June is National Safety Month!

E-bikes are fun and make getting around easier, but they’re heavier and faster than regular bikes. That means less time to react, slow down or stop, and a greater chance of losing control. If your teen rides an e-bike, a regular bike helmet might not protect them at these speeds. Choose a helmet with extra coverage, thick padding, a strong shell and increased impact protection such as MIPS to help reduce the risk of brain injury.

💡DYK: In California, riders under 18 must wear a helmet on all bikes.

The County of Del Norte’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is excited to announce an Open House and Ribbon Cutting for the new Del Norte County Emergency Shelter on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 200 Williams Drive, Crescent City, CA. The completion of this project demonstrates community partnership and marks a major milestone in addressing homelessness in our rural community.

DHHS, in collaboration with Del Norte Mission Possible and True North Organizing Network, was awarded $10.8 million through California’s Encampment Resolution Funding (ERF) Program. The county-owned facility will be operated and managed by Del Norte Mission Possible and includes a congregate 60-bed Emergency Shelter, 50-unit Micro Village, Kitchen Facility, Bathroom Facilities, Community Building, Storage, Laundry, and 24-hour onsite staff and supportive services.
Following the approval of the grant application submission by its Board of Supervisors on February 14, 2023, and the award notification on September 12, 2023, the department solicited proposals from local contractors to complete the project. Of the responses received, Lenders Construction Services was selected as the Construction Project Manager and Adams Commercial General Contracting, Inc. (ACGC) was selected as the contractor for the shelter to build a 60-bed facility for individuals in need. Other local contractors were also used for various aspects of the project.

The 2025 Del Norte County Point in Time (PIT) count identified 482 individuals experiencing homelessness in the community. The goal of the ERF project is to support the development of a continuum of housing services and supports in Del Norte County, which previously did not exist. The collaboration with many community partners on this project further promotes this path. The ERF project aligns with the County of Del Norte’s commitment to improving the lives of its residents and addressing the critical issue of homelessness.
