John William Hall Day ~ June 20, 2026

The City of Crawfordsville is proud to recognize June 20, 2026 as John William Hall Day.

Today, we honor Sergeant First Class John William Hall, a Crawfordsville native who served our nation during both World War II and the Korean War. A Prisoner of War during the Battle of the Bulge and a Bronze Star recipient during the Korean War, Hall exemplified courage, sacrifice, and dedication to our country.

This day also recognizes the presentation of the Prisoner of War Medal and the Republic of Korea Korean War Service Medal, honoring his distinguished military service.

Join us in remembering and celebrating John William Hall and all those who have served in our Armed Forces.

The historic Ben-Hur Building has been awarded Indiana Landmarks’ 2026 Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration, recognizing the remarkable transformation of one of Crawfordsville’s most iconic buildings.

After nearly two decades of vacancy, the $13 million restoration by AP Development LLC brought the building back to life with 49 apartments, restored historic spaces, and renewed energy for our downtown.

“This project demonstrates that historic preservation is not simply about saving buildings, it is about restoring identity, fostering community, and creating opportunity,” said Mayor Todd Barton.

Congratulations to AP Development LLC and everyone who helped make this incredible revitalization possible!
