Bethel Cemetery is the site of the first Methodist Episcopal Church, South
in 1850, established by Rev. His great granddaughter, Susie Hart Landrum & family are resting here, along with many other prominent citizens, Civil War, WWI, & WWII soldiers. Dr. Simon J. Knott & family, Gladstone Williams, who was once the sheriff & is the last known person laid to rest here, Smith's, Lawler's, just to na

me a few; alot of history in this small piece of land. An initiation of clean up & preservation by Andy Pouncey, Carol Alpe Smith, Terri Watson, Carolyn Springfield-Harvey, & Johnny Phillips, has begun recently. We are hoping to have this cemetery revitalized and respected from this time forward.
