UPDATE: Subject has been located and has been arrested.

There is a suspicious individual in a stolen vehicle who was last seen on Parkview Rd in the area of Howington Rd. The description is as follows: a slender black male with long hair, possibly Afro, was last seen wearing an orange shirt. He left the vehicle on foot. If you see him please dial 911 or call the Sheriff’s Office at 706-743-8101 ext. 3. For your safety please stay indoors with your doors locked. Thank you.

This morning, Oglethorpe County Middle School administrators were made aware of a social media post by a student that contained a threat involving potential violence at the school. School administrators and Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers responded immediately and conducted an investigation. As a result of the investigation, the student was taken into custody, charged, and transported to a juvenile detention facility.

Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously and remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and schools. We appreciate the partnership and prompt response of the Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Office in helping maintain a safe learning environment for everyone.

We are excited to announce that we will be upgrading our 911 phone system to Next Generation 911. This upgrade will allow you to send text messages, videos, and photos of emergencies directly to 911. We anticipate that the system will be implemented within the next 9 to 12 months. We kindly ask you to review your phone bill to ensure that the 911 fees are directed to Oglethorpe County, as these funds support our 911 services. Thank you for your attention and support!

All dogs go to heaven……………….

Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office K9 Officer Seto passed today. He served our community well. There are many people in prison and a lot of drugs that never saw the streets of Oglethorpe thanks to him and his handler, C**t Young. Seto was 16 years old. Rest well it was well earned.

Friends, Citizens and Neighbors, and Whosoever comes across this announcement; if you receive a call or text from someone claiming to be a representative of our agency or any agency for that matter and they tell you that you have a warrant, fine, or complaint against you, IT IS A SCAM!!!!Below are some of the common operating phrases or conditions they may use.

1. They want you to call them back so they can record the conversation
2. They use threats to lock you up if you don't take care of this immediately
3. They will threaten to lock you up if you try to hang up
4. They will tell you to drive to the Sheriff's Office
5. At some point they will want you to make a digital payment via credit card or Bitcoin

These are just a few.

HANG UP!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!

Do not fear what they are telling you. If you have a warrant we will come get you. No Government Organization operates over text or will not allow you to hang up or demand immediate payment.

I implore you to discuss this with elderly family members are they are most vulnerable to this scam. I also would ask that you share this post to other groups and social media platforms.
