This year, Captain Reilly and Deputies Breit, Rossi, Ricci, and Wali participated in Law Day presentations at schools around the state, and our Newport County office hosted students from Thompson Middle School at the Newport County Courthouse. Discussion topics this year focused on the rule of law and the justice system.

This is a continuing effort to collaborate and support the RI Judiciary and the RI Bar Association in this worthwhile program.

This week we were honored to be invited to speak with criminal justice students at New England Institute of Technology in Warwick.

Chief Martellini, Lt. DeLima, and Heidi Gagnon spoke with the class about our rich history, the roles, responsibilities, and benefits of a Deputy Sheriff. We explained the process to apply and steps to successfully prepare for the upcoming academy.

It was exciting to meet and discuss our agency with future leaders in law enforcement.

DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN WITH US ON SATURDAY, 5/16!

We are hosting a voluntary (free of charge) agility test training session on Saturday, 5/16/26, at 9:00 AM at the Rhode Island State Police Training Academy, 64 Winsor Road, Foster, RI.

This session is designed to assist you in preparing both physically and mentally for our OFFICIAL agility test on Saturday, 6/13/26.

Please arrive in physical training attire, wear running shoes, and bring a source of hydration. You must bring an active driver's license with you.
