From August 19, 2026 to September 14, 2026, the Crane Police Department will be participating in the Summer Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Extra officers will be on duty during this time period to monitor for impaired drivers. Don’t Drink and Drive or use other mind altering substances. You WILL go to jail and the consequences are costly.

This was created through a partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Corrections, and Law Enforcement Agencies across the state. On August 9, 2026, at approximately 2:00am, Crane Police observed an unidentified, individual carrying a backpack, run from an alley near the intersection of Rose Avenue and Main Street. When the officer attempted to investigate the situation, the individual stopped, looked at the officer and then ran down another alley behind Main Street businesses. The officer was able to catch up with the suspect, who again attempted to break away and flee. Once the officer had the suspect detained, she was identified at Peggy Cassandra Schofield of Aurora, Missouri. Ms Schofield gave the officer consent to search her backpack. During the search, the officer discovered methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. Schofield was booked into the Stone County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Obey Orders from a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting or Fleeing Arrest. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

Happy Birthday to the BEST deputy in Stone County. IYA has been of great assistance to the Crane PD on several occasions. We sincerely appreciate her (and that guy with her too). It’s so nice to have such a great working relationship with the Stone County Sheriff’s Department.
