At approximately 12:30 a.m., crews from the Byram Fire Department, Byram Police Department, and Lakeland Emergency Squad were dispatched to the intersection of Roseville Road and Amity Road for a reported single-car motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.

Upon arrival, first responders confirmed a single-vehicle MVA. The vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest in a wooded area, where it was found fully involved in flames. The crash also sheared a utility pole, sending live electrical lines down across Roseville Road and rendering the area impassable.

The driver was able to self-extricate prior to the arrival of emergency personnel and was not injured.

Due to the hazard posed by the live power lines, fire suppression efforts could not immediately begin, as access to the vehicle was denied. Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) was requested on an expedited response to secure the electrical lines. Once the power was confirmed shut down and the scene deemed safe, crews initiated fire suppression operations and successfully extinguished the fire.

Units cleared the scene at approximately 3:00 a.m. The township Department of Public Works closed the roadway pending cleanup and repairs by the utility company.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area. Thank you.
