Have you seen the gorgeous book art in the library and wished you could make your own? Guess what? You can!

On Saturday, September 19th starting at noon, join us for FUNdraiser during Love Your Library month and make your own unique folded book art! We will provide books rulers, folding templates, and instruction on how to make your own folded book art creation. The $10 donation (per person) can be brought the day of the event. Cash, check, or card are accepted.

If you have a specific or special book you want to you, you are more than welcome to bring it! Books need to be at least 250 pages for the best outcome.

Registration is not required. It is helpful when planning for the right number of books, rulers, and templates though!

Can't make it to the book folding class but want to donate to the library? You can donate online (https://aclalibraries.org/crafton-public-library/), bring cash/check to the library, or mail a check to

Freida McFadden supports love your library. In fact, she has spoken at libraries through Library Speakers Consortium.

Programs like Library Speakers Consortium provide us with the opportunity to share popular author Q and A's that would otherwise be financially unattainable.

$2000 for one year of LSC gives us 6 speakers a month plus access to all the past speakers! Whether you want to enjoy watch parties at the library with other readers or binge the past speakers sessions on your phone late at night, you can!

Will you help us reach this goal? You can mark donations as for Library Speaker Consortium online, in the memo line of a check, or when dropping off cash at the library. Every donation matters!

The library is about more than just books...

It’s about... Community. Literacy. Belonging. Joy. Curiosity. And so much more.

Crafton Public Library strives to offer mostly free programming. We never want cost to be what stops someone from enjoying any of the programs we offer. Your donations help with that goal. Donations assist in covering the cost of supplies, teachers, and speakers for many of our free events.

If you’d like to further support the Crafton Public Library’s mission, donate today during our Love Your Library campaign: https://aclalibraries.org/crafton-public-library/

Tuesday night, we have the awesome opportunity to host Andrew Conte! Please join us for an intriguing evening discussing his book "The Color of Sundays"! Andrew will be at the library from 6 to 8 pm discussing the book and answering questions!

About the speaker:
Andrew Conte serves as founding director and editor of NewsWorks Lab, an experimental newsroom started by Trib Total Media. Previously, he started the Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University in Downtown Pittsburgh. Previously, he worked as an investigative journalist, and he has authored several nonfiction books, including Death of the Daily News (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2022).

As a journalist, Andrew worked as an investigative reporter at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, where he won numerous national, state and local awards. The Pennsylvania Society of Professional Journalists and the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania each recognized Andrew with its top award four times. The Scripps Howard Foundation honored Andrew with the William Brewster Styles Award for outstanding national business and economics reporting.

Andrew’s book, "The Color of Sundays", explores the role of race in the National Football League by describing how the Pittsburgh Steelers identified undervalued players at historically black colleges and universities. The Independent Book Publishers Association recognized the book with a Silver Benjamin Franklin Award and Netflix optioned it for a possible movie.

Andrew also authored Breakaway, a bestseller about how the Penguins hockey team built a championship franchise and a new arena. He wrote All About Roberto Clemente, an illustrated children’s book about the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball outfielder and native of Puerto Rico.

Andrew holds a Ph.D. in Community Engagement from Point Park University, a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys long-distance bicycling trips, kayaking, camping with his wife in their VW bus, international travel, and time with his grown children, who live in Brooklyn.
