Friends of the Heermance Memorial Library

Friends of the Heermance Memorial Library The Friends of the Library formed in 1991 to raise funds for books Today, as volunteers, we raise needed funds, develop activities, and sponsor events.

When Eleanor Heermance passed away in 1907 at 87 years of age she donated her home and a trust fund to establish a public library for the people of Coxsackie. In today’s parlance Eleanor “paid it forward.” Recognizing that the gift from Eleanor was a beginning, the Friends of the Heermance Memorial Library formed in 1991 to fundraise for books and were the primary source of book funding for almost

10 years. The Library began receiving tax support in 2000 when the public voted to create a Special Library District. Use of the library has grown in that time and the Friends group has expanded its role. Today, as volunteers, we continue to raise needed
funds, develop activities, and sponsor events.. The friends will resume meetings soon. If you would like to attend, please call the library to be sure you receive notifications. opportunity to both maintain the beautiful gardens created by Paula Hammerer and to help educate new gardeners

July Trivia was a team effort. Jen, our incredible Trivia Master was ill so some of the Friends of the Library pitched in with Jen's rounds. Thanks Jen for letting us use your hard work! Special thanks to Jocelyn and Jarret for providing our First Place prizes of gift cards for every member on the winning team and for hosting every month! First Place went to "Feels So Good". We had another great night of trivia. Thank you, Jocelyn, Jarrett and all the staff at the Cask and Rasher for hosting and providing gift cards for our top scoring team. This month that was, "Iron Mountaineers". In Second Place was, "Happy Birthday, Kelly!" who received a tray of cookies from The Little Bake Shop along with the Third Place team, "How Did We All Get Here?" Thank you to our Trivia Masters, April and Bob, who put together a fun game. Unfortunately, technical difficulties have prevented me from posting all the pictures I took of our skilled winners and Trivia Masters. I hope to have the issue resolved in time for next month's game which will be held on April 16th. I hope to see you there!
