🧠💜 Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

Hearing that someone you love has dementia can feel overwhelming. There's often a lot of information coming at once, and it's okay to slow down. You don't have to do everything right away.

A few early steps to consider:

✅ Take time to process your feelings
📚 Learn more about the diagnosis
❓ Ask questions and talk with the healthcare team
🤝 Reach out to family and friends for support

There’s no rush. These steps can happen over time, at a pace that feels right for you.

What a wonderful day celebrating Older Americans Month at our Annual Picnic yesterday! ☀️🎉

From dancing and laughter to delicious root beer floats and a spirited beanbag baseball competition, it was a day full of fun, friendship, and community. Events like this remind us how important connection, activity, and joy are at every age.
A very special thank you to the City of Slidell, Louisiana for once again allowing us to use their beautiful space at John Slidell Park. We are also incredibly grateful to Abita Brewing Company for donating root beer and Blue Bell Ice Cream for donating ice cream, making those root beer floats a crowd favorite!

Thank you as well to our generous sponsors for helping make this event possible:
Home Instead
Humana
Ochsner Health & Slidell Memorial Hospital
Peoples Health
Senior Medicare Patrol - Louisiana
Louisiana Senior Health Information Program - SHIP

We also want to recognize the incredible COAST staff who worked so hard to put this event together. So much time, planning, energy, and heart went into making the day special for our older adults — and it truly showed! We are grateful for a team that cares so deeply about the people we serve and for the care, compassion, and love they pour into our community each and every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. Celebrating older adults means celebrating stronger families, stronger connections, and a stronger community for all of us. ❤️

💙American Stroke Month 💙
Simple Activities Can Support Stroke Recovery

Did you know that small, everyday activities can help support recovery after a stroke?

Things like word games, puzzles, reading, or even practicing daily routines can help improve memory, focus, and thinking skills over time.

If you’re caring for someone, you can help by:
• Keeping activities short and simple
• Building them into daily routines
• Choosing familiar, enjoyable tasks
• Offering encouragement every step of the way

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight, but small steps can make a big difference. 💙
