🎉 Want to bring an event to the streets of Covington? Planning just got easier.

Starting June 1, the City’s new online Special Event Permit system will make it easier than ever to apply for and manage event permits. The new platform replaces the previous paper process with a more efficient, user-friendly experience designed to help organizers navigate requirements and move from application to approval with ease.

Any event that uses, or is likely to have a large impact on public or City-owned property, such as streets or parks, requires a Special Event Permit application.

Event organizers can learn more and access the new application here:

At Tuesday night’s Commission meeting, Mayor Washington presented a proclamation officially declaring May 26, 2026, as Mary Kay Connolly Day in the City of Covington. 🎉

Since launching Read Ready Covington in 2018, Mary Kay has inspired a citywide movement focused on early childhood literacy and preparing Covington's youngest learners for lifelong success. Through her leadership, Read Ready Covington has united families, schools, libraries, childcare providers, businesses, nonprofits, faith organizations, civic groups, and volunteers around one shared mission: making sure every child has the foundation they need to thrive.

Mary Kay has always championed the belief that families are a child’s first teachers, and that an entire community plays a role in helping children succeed.

Thank you, Mary Kay, for your lasting impact on the children and families of Covington. 📚
