The co-op currently provides electricity to approximately 100,000 homes and businesses in an eight-county area that includes large portions of Newton, Henry and Rockdale countie Please note that email or social media should not be used to report an outage, emergency or other service problem. If you need to make a payment, you can do so anytime online at www.ssemc.com, by calling 1-888-999-1416, or

at our 24-hour payment kiosks located in the lobby of both of our offices. Please report all outage, emergency, or other service problems by phone at one of the options below.

All emergency or hazardous conditions should be reported by phone to SSEMC immediately. The SSEMC emergency phone line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

10 A.M. UPDATE: The number of SSEMC members without power is down to about 1,700. Crews will continue to work as safely and quickly as possible to restore these remaining outages.

“Selfless act” may not be one of the seven cooperative principles, but it’s the best way to describe what Lead Lineman Colby Chapman did for the Newton County Schools Special Olympics heading into this school year.

Earlier this summer, SSEMC employees held a 50/50 raffle, with half of the proceeds benefiting Newton County Special Olympics and the other half going to one lucky winner. When Colby’s name was drawn, he decided to give his entire $1,250 share right back, bringing the total donation to $2,500. LaTrelle Cawthon with the Newton County Special Olympics joined employees to draw the winning ticket and share more about the impact the program has on local students.

Thank you, Colby, for being a standout example of what it means to serve others and put Concern for Community into action.
