Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK) Changing Lives and Strengthening Neighborhoods since 1991.

Using volunteer labor, donations and subcontracted services, HONK builds new houses and rehabilitates older houses for homeownership opportunities among lower income working families. Client-family support staff provide homeownership counseling to facilitate successful and sustainable ownership.

June is National Homeownership Month.

At HONK, we know that homeownership isn’t just about buying a house. It’s about building stability, wealth, and opportunity for generations.

Through our lease-to-own program, families work toward homeownership by focusing on four key areas:

🏠 Building Credit

💰 Budgeting & Financial Readiness

🔧 Home Maintenance

🔑 Mortgage & Down Payment Assistance Preparation

125 new homeowners!!!! Today we’re celebrating a milestone that feels both humbling and deeply meaningful: 125 households have become homeowners through the HONK homeownership program.

Behind every closing is a story of perseverance, hope, and community with families building stability, planting roots, and realizing the American Dream of homeownership.

This work is never accomplished alone. It takes trust, partnership, generosity, and a shared belief that home should be within reach for more people. We are profoundly grateful to every homeowner, supporter, partner, volunteer, and advocate who has walked alongside us. Congratulations to all of our homeowners over the years! 🎉

What a joy it was to see this young woman and mom taking definitive steps towards homeownership! Jeronika just signed her lease with HONK and she is beginning her lease-to-own journey with enthusiasm and gratitude - to God and to HONK. “I am really grateful to HONK for this program. This is an opportunity for me to be a homeowner and it’s something I have always wanted since I was a little girl.” Please help us wish Jeronika and her son congratulations on a life-changing decision: trusting herself to manifest her dreams and become a homeowner!

With over 250 vintage cars and a super awesome classic Lionel Train display, this could be the highlight of your family weekend! Open this Friday 5/22 and Saturday 5-23 from 10am-4pm (last entry at 3pm) the museum has a suggested $15 donation that goes towards a great cause: affordable homeownership opportunities for northern Kentucky households!
