With great sadness I make this post.
Former Coroner Doug Shelby has died this week. Doug was the elected Coroner and a Deputy Coroner in the 1990s. Doug was elected President of the Indiana Coroners Association in 1991 and 1993. Doug and several other coroners across the state had the vision to create the Coroners Training Board, an agency that now educates and certifies each and every coroner and deputy coroner in our great state.
Everyone that knew Doug has a "Doug story" as I was reminded by a member of staff today that had known Doug for many decades. The guy leaves a great legacy and many fond memories.
Please keep Doug's family in your thoughts this week as they deal with this terrible loss.

Students at Attica High School took part in the Every 15 Minutes program April 13-14.

The Coroner’s Office was honored to work with these young people, their families, teachers, and community. Without the participation of so many this program would not be possible. As the Coroner I am humbled by these people and the strong ethic they brought to the Every Fifteen Minutes program.

Over the next 36 hours the Coroner’s office, in conjunction with other emergency services will be conducting the Every Fifteen Minutes program at AHS. Please do not be alarmed by increased emergency services activity in the area. Thank you for your attention.

It’s Annual Coroner’s Conference time again. We attend conference each year to obtain the required hours for continuing education as directed by state law. This year we will be covering many topics over the next three days that will help us to continue serving the community.

The staff of the Fountain County Coroner's Office are tasked with investigating deaths that occur within the boundaries of Fountain County - Indiana, within the scope of Indiana law. The staff of the Coroner's Office respond 24-7-365 to assist those in need.
It is the greatest hope of the staff that we never have to meet, but if we do, we will serve you and your family with Compassion and Respect at all times.
