Thank you to everyone who joined our recent youth and community Open House events at Pasadena Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and Mid Valley Outpatient.

It was a meaningful day filled with connection, support, conversations, games, food, and community resources for youth, families, and local partners. Seeing everyone come together reminded us how important it is to create safe spaces where young people feel supported, heard, and connected.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make the events special.

Sometimes healing looks like showing up, trying something new, and realizing you are stronger than you thought.

Residents from Omni Center and Mariposa recently participated in a Muay Thai workshop through the Strong Path Program at CrossFit BLVD. The session gave residents a chance to move, release stress, build confidence, and support one another along the way.

During National Prevention Week, we raise awareness about the importance of prevention, mental wellness, and community support. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), long-term methamphetamine use can affect emotions, memory, and decision-making, impacting overall health and wellbeing.

Prevention starts with education, open conversations, and strong community connections. Talking with youth and loved ones about stress, mental health, and healthy coping skills can help support individuals and families before challenges grow. Together, we can continue promoting prevention, awareness, and healthier communities for all.

Mental Health Awareness includes understanding how substance use can affect emotional and overall wellbeing. National data from the CDC show that nearly 35,000 overdose deaths in 2023 involved psychostimulants, primarily methamphetamine. Methamphetamine use can impact mental health by increasing the risk of anxiety, paranoia, and psychosis. Prevention starts with awareness, supportive conversations, and healthy ways to cope with stress. Talking openly about mental health, emotions, and substance use can help reduce stigma and support individuals and families before challenges grow. Together, we can build healthier and more connected communities through prevention, compassion, and support.

Midweek reminder from your SMRS bear crew.

It’s okay to feel stressed sometimes.

Take a breath, pause for a moment, and remember you do not have to carry everything all at once.

One task at a time.
One coffee at a time.
One step at a time.
We’re in this together.
