Over the last few weeks, approximately 40 members of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office participated in 20 hours of SSGT (Strategic Self-Defense and Gunfighting Tactics) training.

The training was led by Deputy Michael Crisp and Deputy Darryl Jordan, both certified SSGT instructors. The course provided hands-on instruction designed to strengthen the skills, confidence, and decision-making our deputies need when responding to difficult and potentially dangerous situations.

Continued training is an important part of keeping our deputies prepared and ensuring they have the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves, their fellow officers, and the citizens they serve.

Sheriff Glen Edwards would also like to thank the Louisiana National Guard for allowing the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office to utilize their facility for this training. We greatly appreciate their support and partnership in helping us provide quality training opportunities for our personnel.

We are proud of the hard work and commitment shown by everyone who participated and especially appreciate Deputy Crisp and Deputy Jordan for sharing their knowledge and dedicating their time to training their fellow deputies.
