VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY THIS SATURDAY AT JWSP- Help is needed to collect the last of the Gray Whale bones this Saturday, June 13th, from 8-12 at Joseph Whidbey State Park. No Discover Pass needed. Volunteers are needed to carry heavy loads and transport bones to the truck, to assist with knife sharpening, and documentation.
Disposable Tyvek suits and rubber gloves will be provided for volunteers who sign up to help and will be working with the whale. To sign up, go to: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F084CACAA22A2FD0-64416844-whale #/
Be aware that the beach is rocky and can be slippery so rubber boots or sturdy shoes that won't slip are highly recommended. We will have disposable shoe covers on hand.
This is an opportunity to help the Central Whidbey State Park team collect these bones for further processing and future interpretive programs, while learning about Gray Whales.
