Subject: Hunting Accident

On September 8, 2026, at approx. 08:27 am Adams County Dispatch received a 911 report of a hunter that took a broad head arrow into the calf of his leg, 600 vertical feet below the road on Blue Bunch Ridge. Adams County Sheriff Zollman and Chief Deputy Boell along with Meadows Valley Fire and rescue, Idaho State Communications, Life Flight, Idaho Army National Guard assisted in the rescue. Due to the remote location and steep terrain, the on-scene responders requested for the Army National Guard to respond with a short lift to hoist the victim out of the draw. Peter Upton 41 male from California was then released to Life Flights care and transported to the Hospital.

Adams County would like to thank Meadows Valley Fire and Resue, Life Flight, Idaho State Communications and Idaho Army National Guard for their diligent response and assistance during this incident.

Update:we do believe we know who the owners are and have made contact. Thank ypu to all our ranchers who watch out for one another and their livestock. We live in a great place where sometimes it takes a village. ☺️

Cattle Found: if you know who's brand this is please call us so we can get these ladies and babies home where they belong North of Council near Weiser River Trail. We have a local brand book and are also contacting those in the area. We are reaching out to the local brand inspector as well.

Our Chaplain provides confidential support, encouragement, and connections to mental-health and community resources, with a special focus on first responders and veterans, meeting each person where they are without judgment, pressure, or proselytizing. Adams County will NEVER call or text you to get your personal information. Additionally we will NEVER call or text you about a possible warrant you may have. Please DO NOT give out your personal information over the phone. When in doubt please hang up and call the local county offices for assistance.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT—PLEASE READ AND SHARE ⚠️

Scammers are becoming increasingly convincing. They may impersonate law enforcement officers, County employees, probation officers, businesses, or other trusted organizations. They can even manipulate caller ID to display a legitimate-looking phone number.

The Sheriff’s Office and other County agencies will never demand payment to clear a warrant. Legitimate agencies will not ask you to confirm your Social Security number or require payment by gift card.

Please remember these important safety tips:

🔹 Unexpected payment requests: If someone claims you owe money and demands immediate payment by cash, gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or another unusual method, hang up. Contact the company or agency directly using a verified phone number before making any payment.

🔹 Computer security scams: If someone claims your computer has been compromised and asks for remote access, hang up and disconnect your computer from the internet. Do not give them access or send payment. Instead, contact a reputable computer security professional for assistance. Your computer may not be compromised at all.

🔹 Impersonation scams: Scammers may contact you by phone, text, or email. They may also target relatives of individuals who are incarcerated, facing legal issues, or being supervised on probation.
If you receive a suspicious call, text, or email:

✅ Hang up or delete the message.
✅ Do not click links or open attachments.
✅ Do not provide personal or financial information.
✅ Do not send money or purchase gift cards.
✅ Verify the request using an official phone number or website.

Do not allow anyone to pressure or frighten you into acting immediately. Take your time, verify the information, and protect your hard-earned money. Stay alert and help protect others by sharing this warning.

A special thank-you to the Meadows Valley Fire Department, along with Doug and Nikki Buys, for organizing and conducting an active-shooter scenario training at Council High School last weekend.

Participants included personnel from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office both patrol and dispatch, Idaho Fish and Game, Indian Valley Fire, Meadows Valley Fire, and multiple volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who participated and demonstrated their commitment to preparedness, teamwork, and the safety of our communities. Your dedication and proactive efforts are greatly appreciated!
