Thank you to the Council Grove Police Department for this important information about this year's Unbound Gravel event, happening this weekend!

UNBOUND GRAVEL- This event will be coming through Council Grove on Saturday, May 30th. Riders are expected to be coming into Council Grove from Lake Road onto Mission Street. At Mission and Main, riders will cross Main and turn East onto Hockaday. They will Cross Neosho Street at Hockaday Street and then go South on Wood Street. I am anticipating seeing the first riders enter Council Grove around 10 or 10:30 a.m. The additional traffic and congestion will take place from then until late at night. As long as everyone treats each other with respect, and has a little patience, we can make this a fairly seamless event. Special thanks to the event coordinators who were open to constructive conversation and subsequently made a route adjustment for the safetyof everyone involved. See you Saturday. 🚓 Only the 200 will be coming through this year, so approximately 1,400 riders.

In observance of Memorial Day, City of Council Grove offices will be closed on Monday, May 25.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we also pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and courage will never be forgotten, and we are deeply grateful for the freedoms they helped protect.

From all of us at the City of Council Grove, we wish you a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day.

👏💧Today, the City of Council Grove proudly celebrates Derrick Craige and his incredible 30 years of service with the Council Grove Water Department.

For three decades, Derrick has played an important role in helping provide one of our community’s most essential services. His hard work, dedication, knowledge, and commitment to the residents of Council Grove have made a lasting impact and is deeply appreciated.

Thirty years of service is an extraordinary milestone, and it speaks volumes about Derrick’s character and dedication to our community.

💙During National Police Week, beginning Sunday, May 10th, the City of Council Grove proudly recognizes and thanks the dedicated men and women of the Council Grove Police Department for their service to our community.

Every day, our officers step forward with courage, professionalism, and a commitment to keeping Council Grove safe. Their work often happens quietly and behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout our community each and every day.

We are grateful for the sacrifices they and their families make, and we thank them for the care, protection, and service they provide to the residents and visitors of Council Grove.

Please join us this week in showing appreciation for the officers who serve our community with integrity and dedication. 💙

Beginning tomorrow, May 10th it will be National Police Week. This week should celebrate all of those law enforcement officers near and far, that day in and day out make unimaginable sacrifices for their community. The weight they carry on their shoulders, the stress, the repetitive trauma, that a normal citizen may or may not see in their entire life. Morning, noon, and night, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 12 months out of the year, this week is for you. So be proud of what you have accomplished for your community, and the sacrifices you have made to achieve that. 👊
