Many have it engrained in their mind, exactly where they were on that fateful day, while some are too young and can only watch, listen, and read about the stories and reports. It seems like only yesterday, but it has now been 25 years since the terrible attacks against the United States on 9/11, and we pause to remember all of the innocent victims, responders, and their families and whose lives changed forever.
But out of the darkness, a light shown through … The will of the American people!! We watched as thousands of firefighters, police officers and EMS workers selflessly rushed to the scenes. We watched as complete strangers helped one another to not leave anybody behind. Story after story from New York and Washington D.C., to Flight-93, we’ve heard amazing tales of ordinary people heroically performing under extraordinary circumstances. They didn’t know if they were going to live or die, but when faced with extreme adversity, they stepped up and demonstrated the resiliency that our country stands for! It didn’t matter who you were or what job you had, all that mattered was everyone worked together!
Below, we share a photo taken of FDNY Firefighter Peter Langone, assigned to Squad Company 252 in Brooklyn. While walking towards the towers for his assignment, he is looking up while smoke billowed out, knowing full well that the daunting task that laid ahead would be the worst of his career, and one he may never return from. Even with that, it did not deter him, his crew, or the thousands of other responders that answered the call. Ultimately, Firefighter Langone and the entire Squad-252 crew passed away as a result of the attacks. Today, we can only hope to instill the same passion and dedication to the job that Firefighter Langone and thousands of others did.
The American spirit was tested, but it did not break!!
