SUMMARY...A localized wind and large hail threat will be possible through late this evening as supercells move out of Mexico across the Rio Grande.

DISCUSSION...Storms are noted to be occasionally intense on satellite and radar across the eastern Sierra Madre in Mexico this evening. Hi-res CAM guidance suggests that a few of these storms may persist and move across the Rio Grande into the Edwards Plateau region and perhaps portions of south-central Texas. The air mass across southern Texas is moderately unstable with strong deep layer shear ahead of the ejecting wave to the west across Baja California. Storms would likely be elevated in nature, given diurnal inversion layer, with the main hazards being large hail and strong to severe wind. Given some uncertainty in thunderstorm maintenance and the localized nature of this threat, a watch remains uncertain. Trends will be monitored through the evening.

Wristbands will be available for Autism individuals and children 5 years of age and younger to help keep them safe during the event.
Please pick up your wristband at the Sheriff’s Office Command Center on Saturday.

These wristbands help first responders quickly identify and assist children or individuals who may become separated from their families. Safety measures like identification bracelets are commonly recommended because some children—especially those with autism—may wander or have difficulty communicating if they become lost.

Please be advised that the City of Encinal is always under a burn ban, regardless of whether there is a county-wide burn ban in place.

This means no burning of any kind is permitted within city limits.

Anyone caught burning will receive a citation and may face more serious charges depending on the materials being burned.

La Salle County is under a Burn Ban effective until April 27, 2026. The ban includes all activities except those authorized under specific circumstances: (1) commissioned firefighting training; (2) public utility, natural gas pipeline, or mining operations; (3) agricultural planting or harvesting; or (4) prescribed burns conducted by certified managers under Sections 153.047 and 153.048, Natural Resources Code.
