About 80 percent of the land in the Verde Valley is National Forest. Dead Horse Ranch State Park and the Verde River Greenway are

REMINDER: The City of Cottonwood will host its bi-annual Spring Clean-Up event at the Cottonwood Transfer Station from Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. The event will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This free event is available to all City of Cottonwood residents with proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill. For additional information, please contact the City of Cottonwood Public Works Department at (928) 634-8033.

For safety, residents must wear high-visibility safety vests while unloading materials at the transfer station. The Cottonwood Transfer Station will remain open to non-residents during normal business hours, with standard fees applying.

PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION MEETING

The Cottonwood Planning and Zoning Commission will be holding a meeting on Monday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m., at the City Council Chambers - Riverfront, 1083 E. Riverfront Road, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.

The following items are scheduled for New Business:

• CUP-26-003; Conditional Use Permit to allow for an earthen material processing and storage facility, located in the northern portion of 4414 S. State Route 260.

• DR-26-008; Design Review for an earthen material processing and storage facility, located in the northern portion of 4414 S. State Route 260.

All interested persons are encouraged to attend or send comments to the Community Development Director by noon on Friday, June 13, 2026. A verbal comment period will be provided during each hearing item. The Chair may impose a time limit on each speaker.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, June 16, to hear directly from Arizonans across the state about their transportation challenges and needs. The meeting is part of the Next Move Arizona statewide listening tour to develop a shared vision for the state’s transportation system that safely connects people and empowers the economy.

To register for the meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m., please visit azdot.gov/Listening

The session will feature remarks by ADOT Director Jennifer Toth, followed by an interactive session to gather feedback on transportation issues and priorities and a demonstration of an online mapping tool to provide location-specific comments.

“We have visited locations around the state with a goal of strengthening the connection between our transportation system and the communities it serves,” Toth said. “This interactive virtual session is a chance for us to hear from those we may not get to see in person.”

The Next Move Arizona listening tour launched in late 2025 and is scheduled to continue through July.
