HOLD ON FOLKS because this weekend promises to be one like no other! The first annual Chase County Days will bring a jam-packed array of events that will join local residents and visitors, young and old alike, together to celebrate the wonderful unique beauty and culture that can only be found in our great county. ,
Kicking off the weekend is Emma Chase Friday Night Music, acoustic edition, beginning at 7:30 PM September 18. If the weather is hospitable, this event will be on Broadway Street in Cottonwood Falls in front of Prairie PastTimes. If it is too hot or rainy, the event will be held inside Prairie PastTimes, located at 333 Broadway.
You will need to get plenty of rest Friday night because Saturday promises to be a dizzying and fun day. For football fans, stop in at the Doghouse Saloon, 311 Broadway, at 11:00 AM Saturday to cheer on Kansas State vs. Tulane.
From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday is your opportunity to shop, do some sight-seeing and grab something to eat from food trucks and local restaurants and vendors that will tempt your tastebuds!
Also at 1:00 PM there will be a pop-up art show at 333 Broadway, where you will view paintings, water colors, ceramics, fiber, glass and many other artforms created by incredibly talented artists. Kids activities will be available between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM behind the former Symphony in the Flint Hills building.
At 2:00 PM Saturday, at the Chase County Historical Museum & Library, located at 303 Broadway, speaker Larry Tholen will share the fascinating history of the 1932 Rockne Studebaker that is now on permanent display inside the museum.
At 4:00 PM Saturday an event that is being billed as a "Cakewalk on Steroids" will be held in front of HeBrews Coffee House, 313 Broadway. Don't miss this fun event as you may go home with a mouth-watering homemade cake.
You will be kicking up your heels when you attend the street dance that will be held in front of the courthouse from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Brickhorse will provide the music to get you in the mood for dancing, dancing and more dancing.
In addition to all of these events, FREE PRIVATE GUIDED TOURS of the iconic Chase County Courthouse will be available from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM Saturday. Chase County board member Ken Grochowsky will lead the tour and provide true stories about this incredible 8 Wonders of Kansas Architecture building. To schedule your tour, you may call the Chase County Chamber of Commerce office at (620) 273-8469 to let us know the time you would like your tour, or you can drop by the Chamber Office, 318 Broadway, just a half block north of the courthouse on the east side of Broadway.
Wrapping up these whirlwind of activities will be the First Annual Chase County Days, 4-person scramble, golf tournament at the Chase County Country Club, located just south of Cottonwood Falls on Hwy 177.
