Unbelievable story unfolding this week in America: Republicans tried to starve Americans for political gain while Democrats defended the rule of law to feed them.

President Trump and Speaker Johnson lied to the American people so that they could use starvation to coerce Dems to reopen the government without concessions. It really is that simple. Earlier this week Johnson claimed that "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) contingency funds are not 'legally available' to cover benefits during the shutdown." Today, we find that not only are the funds legally available, the administration is legally obligated to disburse those funds. Two different federal judges sided with "Democratic officials [who] argued that not only could that money be used, but it must be."
