❄️ Be safe, stay warm and help your neighbors by becoming a hydrant hero! ❄️
Thanks Cottleville Firefighters Outreach for such a fun and delicious opportunity to make a difference!

A few other safety tips: clear snow from exterior doors, make sure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functional, and stay off of the roads unless it’s an emergency!

âť„ Have you seen the forecast for this weekend? We have 5+ inches of snow headed our way and we need your help!

Are you ready to become a hydrant hero?

When snow buries a fire hydrant, it can take our firefighters precious minutes to find it and dig it out. We carry shovels, but every minute we spend digging is a minute the fire keeps growing.

Firefighters need hydrants to get water fast and that’s why we need your help! When you see a hydrant near your house, make sure it’s easy to spot and clear all the way around. Just 3 feet of space can save lives! Keeping it visible helps firefighters protect your home and your neighbor's homes too.

Heroes don’t always wear badges — sometimes they wear snow boots!

How to Be a Hydrant Hero
Keeping your neighborhood safe only takes a few minutes!
1. Find the hydrant near your home.
Look for the closest fire hydrant on your street. You might have one right by your driveway or across the road.

2. Clear at least 3 feet all the way around.
Shovel snow and ice in a wide circle around the hydrant so firefighters can reach it from every side.

3. Make sure it’s visible from the street.
If snow piles are high, clear enough space so the top and sides of the hydrant can
be easily seen from the road — especially by fire trucks at night or in bad weather.

4. Keep it clear after every snowfall.
Snow plows and drifts can cover hydrants again, so check back after each storm.

5. Snap a photo and share your hero moment!
Show off your hard work! Send us a picture of your family clearing the snow here: https://forms.gle/AcoFnKLv33YKDKWL8, or on our social media by tagging and we’ll send you a coupon for a free treat from one of our local sponsors.

Don’t forget to include to inspire your friends and neighbors as well!

6. Enjoy your treat!
Enjoy your treat and kick your feet up. You’ve earned it! Rest easy knowing that your good deed is making your neighborhood safer.

Special thanks to our partners at Crumbl and Chick-fil-A Mid Rivers Mall Dr & 94 in Cottleville, for their generous support of this program and our local Hydrant Heroes!
