IAFF Local 2570 would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Karla Bigham For Washington County Commissioner, Justin Olsen, Cottage Grove City Council Member, Myron Bailey, Monique Garza, Klein For Congress, Wayne Johnson For MN for their show of support in participating in our Fire Ops 101 yesterday! We appreciate them taking time out of their weekend to show support for the fire service!

They did a fantastic job stepping into the roles as firefighter/paramedics, performing various drills including a live fire exercise.

The goal of this event was to give them a glimpse into our day to day operations at CGFD. We hope that this hands on experience was not only entertaining, but informative. By providing this experience, we hope that the participants walk away with a greater appreciation of the work that the men and women fire service do and they will continue the advancement of the firefighting profession at both the local and state level.

We would also like to thank Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters - MPFF. This event would not have been possible without their guidance.

Lastly, a huge thank you to North Metro Buff and TrueLens Community Media for covering this event and getting some awesome pictures/videos!

This was a great event and we hope we are able to provide this experience again in the future!

I joined Mayor Carter and firefighters in St. Paul to highlight my bipartisan bill to ensure that families of those impacted by service-related cancers receive the support they need. These heroes put their lives on the line to keep us safe, and we must stand with them.

MPFF expresses our deepest sympathies for the victims of today’s shooting in Minneapolis. An attack on innocent members of the community is a shocking and senseless act of cruelty, incomprehensible in its motive and in the devastation it leaves behind. We are thinking of the victims and their families as they begin processing the trauma that has befallen them, and we stand behind our Minneapolis Firefighters Local 82, Hennepin County Association of Paramedics and EMTs, Minneapolis Police Federation, North Memorial and Allina Health Brothers and Sisters who responded to the scene and provided life-saving prehospital care to the victims.

All fire and EMS professionals and friends and family are invited for a picnic in the park at Thomas Beach in Minneapolis. Come join us on September 14!
