It seems as a whole we as a people have forgotten the value of famila and unity. We are lured by money greed and the prospect of power that we never gain, it may be the reason for the downfall of our ethnicity. If all we strive for is wealth and power even at the expense of our relationships with our family and community paying no heed to who we hurt or step on then ultimately the quest for power is futile. The only power we have is withing the hearts of those that stand beside us. There is power in numbers that is of people not dollars. Once you have lost the support of your peers you have lost the ability to grow and prosper with diginity.

Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.
If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with him... the people who give you their food give you their heart.
You are never strong enough that you don't need help.

Ever Wonder at how the name ™‘La Copita” got his name?

The real La Copita was the son of Lino Trujillo Jr, of Costilla New Mexico. His mom was Maria Leonarda Lovato, and she was in the lineage of Charles (Carlos) Beaubien who owned the Sangre De Cristo Land Grant, which happened to be the largest and most controversial land grant in US history.
His father owned a bar in Costilla named the Maverick after his grandfather Lino Trujillo Sr, and he was a bartender in Wyoming for many years and a marksman, now known as “hitmen”. When he was a boy him and his friend Ramon Arellano were in the bar and decided to steal some wine. They knew that the wine trademarked ™“La Copita” which was a real low budget wine was hardly ever sold or asked for so they decided to take a bottle believing nobody would notice. As it turned out his father caught Carlos and his friend sneaking off with the wine and after that his dad began calling him ™“La Copita”. If you are curious as to what a copita is it is a wine glass (see footnote). And thereafter the name stuck and he was known by many with this unusual name.
I am the true daughter of ™La Copita or Carlos my name is Wendy R Trujillo and along with my brother Christopher Lino Trujillo we have had many people taking claim to be ™La Copita there are many reasons but if you are not aware he was instrumental in the beginning of the civil rights movement while in Fort Knox Kentucky, during basic training and went by other nicknames such as TJ for T ru J illo this was due to the fact that they could not pronounce his last name and while in the military you are addressed by your last name and not your first. He also went by the nickname Rocky a name given to him by his sister Mina Trujillo Cordova while he was a young boy and had a tendency to throw rocks and also collected them and was well known for finding gold, and gemstones. He became a featherweight boxer for the army as well as a sharpshooter (sniper) in special forces during Vietnam. He was segregated as a punishment in Fort Knox for fighting with his drill sergeant upon arrival. He is also known as the Spaniard, Conquistador, Rattlesnake, and Cobra. But me and my brother only know him as dad.
My dad passed away February 5, 2008 and since that day we have had a lot of trouble with so many who wish to use his life or his name as well as mine and my brother's lives for their own but I promise you there is only one La Copita his memory still in our hearts and to those who wish to pose as him or his family I am sorry I hope you find the treasure within your own family as well as the accomplishments in your own life. My dads life was like every other Americans just a regular guy. Every American has a story every life is an accomplishment every family has a hero. If you look you will be surprised at the lives hidden within your own family, maybe it is you that is the hero, and never knew.
God Bless ❤

This earth beneath my feet is like my own body, and the river that passes through the water that sustains life is like the blood that runs through my veins carrying oxygen to my lungs like the sunlight that brings love from heaven and nourishes my soul This is the land where your ancestors traveled for a better life for themselves and for future generations so you can have a better life. Each generation has worked and strived for a more promising and fulfilling life. And with faith that future generations will not only exist but thrive. With that hope in their heart they came to this country and for some all they had was the dirt beneath them. But that was enough for them to take root and make a life with.
