We need YOUR input! 💙

Our team at Comfort House is exploring the possibility of bringing back the Protecting Your Children: Advice from Child Molesters community workshop for parents and adults. Before moving forward, we want to hear directly from our community so we can shape the program to best meet your needs and concerns.

Your feedback will help us create meaningful conversations, provide valuable education, and better support child abuse prevention efforts in our community.

Please take a few moments to complete this short survey. Thank you for helping us make a difference!

This community workshop is designed for parents and adults to educate about child abuse prevention. Please fill out the questions to help us understand when and how to best implement this program in our community. Thank you!

🤔 Did you know... through our Play It Safe program taught in schools, we spend a LOT of time talking about online safety?

Because during National Internet Safety Month — and every month — helping children stay safe online is more important than ever. It’s important for kids and families to know how to recognize unsafe situations and protect themselves.

Here are some tips we like to share:

❎Don’t friend someone you haven’t met in person.
👤Set your profiles to private.
👣 Don’t give out your personal information online.
👀 Look out for people who want you to keep a friendship a secret from adults.
📣 Use the Safety Rule: Say NO, Get Away, Tell an Adult.

In addition to conducting forensic interviews, Comfort House also brings the Play It Safe! program into local schools!

As the school year comes to an end, we wanted to share some of our end-of-year statistics with you… but we made it a challenge! 🔍

Hidden somewhere in the graphic is the total number of students we taught through Play It Safe! this school year. Think you can find it? 👀

💚May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Not every struggle looks the same.
Not every person asks for help out loud.

Mental health matters every single day — in the quiet moments, the hard days, and the days that look “fine” from the outside.

🎉 Join us in celebrating Dr. Sharon Laufer 🎉

After more than 20+ years of dedicated service, Dr. Sharon Laufer is stepping down from her role as a board member of Comfort House. While this marks the end of an era, we are grateful that she will continue to support our mission as a volunteer. 💙

Dr. Laufer, a native Louisvillian, has called Harrison County home since 1983. She has served our community in countless ways—through her work as a family physician, her involvement in the hospital, her church, and her commitment to causes like the Red Cross. She has been donating regularly to the Red Cross as her blood can be given to infants and children.

Her passion for helping children, advocating for their safety, and her longstanding commitment to the HCH Foundation as a board member is what led her to Comfort House. Since joining the board in the early 2000s, she has been an important piece of the puzzle—helping us work toward a safer, stronger community for children and families.

Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Dr. Laufer enjoys doing puzzles of any kind, reading mystery and medical fiction, and spending time with her family—especially her granddaughter.

Thank you, Dr. Laufer, for your years of compassion, leadership, and service. Your impact will be felt for years to come! 💐
