Yesterday the Corvallis Chamber Greeters had the opportunity to learn more about the incredible work of Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care

While many know Lumina for hospice services, they offer a wide range of support programs for our community. Their Transition Program helps individuals who may not yet be ready for hospice care but need support through services such as volunteer visits, caregiver education, support groups, and their six-week Powerful Tools for Caregivers class. They also host unique community events, including a monthly Death Café.

We also learned about Lumina’s Bereavement and Grief Support Services, which provide counseling and support groups to help ensure no one has to navigate loss alone.

Finally, Lumina shared information about their growing House Calls Program, launched in fall 2024, which brings primary care and geriatric specialty services directly to homebound patients.

🎓 Congratulations to our very own Giselle Gutierrez on her college graduation!

Today, we celebrate not only an incredible academic achievement but also the dedication, perseverance, and passion that Giselle brings to everything she does. We are so proud to have her as part of the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce team and can’t wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes in this next chapter.

As Dr. Seuss wrote in Oh, the Places You’ll Go!:

Yesterday, I had the honor of graduating from Leadership Corvallis, and I find myself reflecting on what an incredible experience it has been.

As the CEO of the Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, I spend every day working alongside businesses, organizations, and community leaders. Leadership Corvallis gave me the opportunity to go even deeper—learning about the many systems, partnerships, challenges, and opportunities that shape our city and region.

From public safety and local government to education, healthcare, economic development, and nonprofit services, I gained a greater appreciation for the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make Corvallis the vibrant community we call home.

What inspired me most was seeing leadership in action. True leadership isn’t about titles or positions—it’s about listening, collaborating, showing up, and working toward a shared vision for a stronger community. It means building relationships, embracing different perspectives, and being willing to serve something larger than yourself.

I am grateful to my fellow classmates, the program organizers, and the many community leaders who shared their knowledge and passion with us throughout the year. Thank you to my board for investing in my growth and my mother for attending my graduation alongside me! Leadership Corvallis reminded me that our community’s greatest strength is its people, and I am more committed than ever to helping Corvallis thrive.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026. It was an honor to learn, grow, and lead alongside each of you.

A huge thank you to Jes Walker-Wyse and Terri Garcia-Linares of The Mortgage Studio, powered by unionhomemortgage, for an outstanding Lunch & Learn this week!

Jes and Terri brought their expertise, passion, and practical knowledge to help entrepreneurs, freelancers, contractors, and business owners better understand the path to homeownership. They broke down complex topics such as self-employed income evaluation, assets and liquidity requirements, career transitions, and strategic financial planning into clear, actionable information that attendees could immediately apply to their own situations.

What made this session especially valuable was their ability to share real-world examples and answer questions in a way that empowered participants to feel more confident and informed about the home-buying process. Their commitment to education and helping people achieve their goals was evident throughout the presentation.

Thank you, Jes and Terri, for sharing your knowledge with our business community and for making homeownership feel more accessible for so many local entrepreneurs. We appreciate your partnership and dedication to helping others build a strong future.
