Seeds for the Sol is a non-profit, grass-roots organization taking action now to make it easier for low and middle-income homeowners to afford solar systems. We’re made up of concerned citizens who want to repurpose the benefits they’ve reaped from a fossil fuel economy, passing them on to the next generation in the form of renewable energy. Seeds of the Sol provides a method for funding solar ene
rgy much like nature does, in seasons and cycles. We do that by pre-paying homeowners’ initial investment for installing a solar array on their home. That loan is then repaid by the homeowner from state and federal tax incentives for solar. SunBuddies provide local interest-free loans to community members to cover much of the upfront cost of installing PV solar systems on their homes. Each loan is guaranteed by Seeds for the Sol, and the contractual paperwork and money exchange is processed by Seeds for the Sol. Recipients repay the SunBuddy loan in annual payments over four to five years, utilizing existing state and federal tax incentives: For a 3 kilowatt system, approximately $4500 the first year and $1500 annually for the next three years until the SunBuddy is paid in full. Donor- The Seed Pod donation pool helps offset the overhead costs of providing loans for local solar systems — accounting, processing applications, and billing. When the Seed Pod grows sufficiently, it will also fund new solar installations with SunBuddy-style loans. Your donation is tax-deductible. Donations are processed through Seeds for the Sol’s partner organization. Seed Harvester- The receiver of the solar panels
