istrict encompasses 25 square miles and borders on the Sycamore Fire District on the north, the Hinckley Fire Protection District on the south, the Maple Park Fire Protection District on the East, and the City of DeKalb on the West. The Cortland Fire Department is a member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Division 6.

🚨Dispatch Detail Bonus🚨
Have you ever wondered how tornado sirens are set off? 🌪️Did you picture a hand crank attached to a horn? 📢
Thanks to technology, dispatch can start and stop the sirens for select cities with a light tap on a touchscreen. Other cities rely on their fire departments or even their local police to set them off.
Also testing the sirens on the first Tuesday of the month at 10am is a statewide practice.
