UPDATE: Proposed Retiree Health Insurance Changes

The Cortland County Legislature is committed to making sure County retirees have the opportunity to receive accurate information, ask questions, and fully understand the proposed changes to retiree health insurance before any final decision is made.

To allow adequate time for the upcoming informational sessions and for retirees’ questions to be reviewed and answered, the resolution regarding the proposed Medicare Advantage plan will not move forward during the September committee cycle. It is anticipated to be considered during the Legislature’s October meetings.

This additional time will give retirees an opportunity to participate in the scheduled informational sessions, hear directly from those familiar with the proposed plan, and obtain answers specific to Cortland County’s proposal.

The Legislature recognizes the importance of this issue to our retirees and believes it is important that there be sufficient time for questions, discussion, and accurate information before the proposal is considered for action.

Retirees and members of the public are encouraged to review the information available on the County website and attend one of the upcoming informational sessions.
