It was an honor yesterday to do a NHG Living Tribute for Patricia Weickenand, RN. At 96 years old she was proud to have dedicated 70 years to the profession of nursing. After graduating from St Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1951, she served as a clinical nursing supervisor.
It was beautiful to see all the retired nurses come to support her on this special day. We done Pat!
Thanks to Windsor House Healthcare in Hubbard for allowing us to be there to celebrate this special lady.

Pat retired in 2007 as a Registered Nurse, after working at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in McDonald and had done volunteer work for Hospice. Pat enjoyed sewing, camping and crafts, but her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren.

Nursing was truly part of Pat’s heritage. Her mother was a surgical nurse, and both Pat and her sister followed that path, attending St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing and graduating just two years apart. Pat’s legacy continues through her granddaughter who proudly followed in her footsteps and entered the nursing profession as well.

Blackstone Funeral Home, thank you for caring for our sister. Rest easy Pat.

Carol graduated from Harding High School, the University of Michigan with a BS in nursing, and Kent State University with a MEd. Beyond the traditional educational institutions, Carol was also certified in numerous holistic health techniques such as Touch for Health and Pranic healing, working with energy systems in the body to heal various ailments. Of the accomplishments in her life, Carol was incredibly satisfied to have been a professor at the Trumbull Memorial School of Nursing. In the early 1970s she was asked to create and teach the psychiatric program as part of a larger training curriculum and then subsequently taught the course for approximately the next 25 years.

Note: Some of us had the honor of being taught by Mrs [Ginzler] Gottestman. Well Done Carol, time to rest.

Thank you Lane Family Funeral Homes for caring for our dear sister.

Our own Michael Medvec was the speaker for the April meeting of the Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses. He gave a wonderful presentation on the transition from being a nurse to a deacon and his time doing both at the same time. Very interesting story and thank you for sharing Michael. Michael is with some of our guards who belong to YCCN.

A 1970 graduate of Ursuline High School, Jean went on to attend the Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing - Class of '73. Jean met her husband Frank Farkas in 1973, and they raised their two sons in Brookfield, Ohio. She worked as an RN at St. Joseph Hospital for several years and then transitioned to the home healthcare field. Jean earned her BS in Nursing from Hiram College and went on to work surveying nursing homes for the Ohio Department of Health, until she retired in 2017. Well done Jean.

The National Nurses Honor Guard Coalition has over 300 chapters in the USA. Jean is a perfect example of going to nursing school and working in one chapter's territory and having a service in a neighboring chapter's territory. We were privileged to honor our sister with Friends of Northeast Ohio Nurse Honor Guard
