SAFETY DAY 2026

BPD would like to thank everyone that donated and participated with us at SAFETY DAY 2026 that was held yesterday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. We would not be able to provide this event without the generosity of our sponsors. The event was our largest giveaway ever with 93 bicycles, tv’s, scooters, skateboards, helmets, and ride on toys for smaller children.

The following groups and businesses provided displays and giveaways:

Bob Kat’s Lil’ Critters
Cadence Care Network
Church At Warren
Sunbelt Rentals
Mission BBQ
Triple M Towing
Bud’s Towing
Molnar’s Concessions

The following first responders agencies represented their communities to support ours:

University Hospitals-Air Med Helicopter
Bazetta Fire Department
Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency (EMA)
Trumbull County HAZMAT TEAM
Trumbull County Safe Communities
Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office
Trumbull County Mounted Deputies
TAG- Drug Task Force
TCSO K-9
ODNR- Ohio Department of Natural Resources
Liberty Twp. Police Department K-9
Cortland City Police Department
Champion Twp. Police Department
Howland Twp. Police Department
McDonald Village Police Department
TCI-Trumbull Correctional Institute

Janice from the Scent Tracking Dog Team from Michigan who successfully tracked a subject by scent with all the other scents around the fairgrounds.

The planning has started for next year’s event.

We do events like this to come together and give back to the communities we serve. It was humbling when a younger girl stopped me on the fairway yesterday and said, “Thank You for protecting us!” and gave me a keychain that said “You Make A Difference”. Just another reminder of why we do what we do.

BPD would like to thank Carrie Biery with Logan’s Landing for their donation of sensory support kits for each of our cruisers. The kits are designed to help our officers better support individuals with autism, sensory sensitivities, or other hidden disabilities during interactions with our officers.

Also Blue Envelopes were dropped off and will be available at the BPD Booth at Safety Day tomorrow 6/13 from 10a-2p at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The Blue Envelope program is intended to help individuals communicate important information to officers/first responders during traffic stops and encounters to create less stress or fear during their encounters with first responders.

We’re incredibly grateful for the kindness and support from our community. Yesterday, one of our residents stopped by with a thank you card, cookies, and pizza after our officers were able to help locate and reunite her with her lost dog.

Gestures like this truly mean a lot to our department. We’re thankful to serve such a caring and supportive community, and we’re always happy to help when we can.

Thank you again for your generosity and for allowing us to be part of a community that looks out for one another. 🐾🚔
