🦋♿🏳️‍🌈 ~ June is Pride Month ~ 🏳️‍🌈♿🦋

A significant number of LGBTQIA+ people also live with disabilities. In particular, due to stigma and discrimination, many find themselves having to deal with mental health conditions, chronic illnesses, and physical disabilities as a direct result of discrimination.

The LGBTQIA+ community and the disability community share a lot in common. The two communities faced horrid discrimination, often being treated as broken or subhuman. Both also have had to-and to this day still have to- fight for their rights to exist in public spaces.

Pride is not just a celebration, but a declaration that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be seen and respected. And for those of us living with disabilities, it is all the more important that we are seen.

Everyone has the right to vote, even people with disabilities!

Everyone has the right to vote, even people with disabilities!

VOTE411 is LIVE for primaries in Cortland County! Enrolled in a political party? If so, you can vote on June 23rd in the primary! Find out more at VOTE411.org. Just go to the site, click the party you belong to, put in your address and P**F! What will be on your ballot will appear!

We've asked anyone running for local elections to answer some simple questions -
1. What do you see as the most important responsibilities of a local party committee member, and how will you approach them if elected?

2. How will you ensure that the concerns and priorities of voters in your election district are reflected in party decisions?

3. What steps would you take to strengthen civic participation and encourage more residents to engage with the local party process?

Sadly, we've gotten only one response so far.... if you know anyone running for a political party committee position, please encourage them to respond. We sent everyone a snail-mail letter to make sure everyone got their own copy.

Democracy thrives when everyone's voice is heard. You too can become informed and engaged!

World No To***co Day was on May 31st this year! Did you know that people with disabilities are more likely to use to***co and often face greater health risks too? Targeted marketing, health inequities, and barriers to quitting all play a role.

Remember: ATI has to***co cessation support pouches if you're interested in decreasing your use of to***co or ni****ne products! Ask our front desk crew for one the next time you visit.
