On Thursday May 19th at 6:00 p.m. the Cortland County Legislature will hold a public hearing on a proposed 17 district redistricting map. In addition to in-person appearances, this hearing with be accessible via WebEx. Please go to cortland-co.org for a link to this hearing. The link should be available by May 13. 2022. In a separate decision the Cortland County Legislature just approved $1.7 million to install a gas collection and control system for the County's landfill. This system will provide support in reducing methane emissions as well as significantly control the odor negatively impacting the surrounding residents and communities.

Good news. Another round of ARP monies have been approved to help our Cortland County residents. An additional $300,000 for our small businesses which brings the total allocation to a little over $600,000. Approximately $2 million dollars is now committed to renovate our recently acquired Mental Health facility.

The Cortland County Legislature believes that community involvement is necessary in the redistricting process. For that reason, the legislature approved the creation of a Redistricting Commission Citizen’s Advisory Committee, which will consist of the following membership:
• One (1) City of Cortland Elected or Appointed
• One (1) Cortland County Municipal Supervisor
• Two (2) Cortland County Election Commissioners
• Five (5) Cortland County Residents
The Redistricting Commission Citizen’s Advisory Committee will be tasked with providing input to the Commission regarding Cortland County redistricting, updating and amending the Local Law No. 2 of
1972 - A Local Law Reapportioning the County of Cortland and the structure of the Cortland County
Government. All persons interested in applying to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee should do so at
https://www.cortland-co.org/FormCenter/Legislature-19/Redistricting-Commission-CitizensAdviso-72. Applications for the Committee will be accepted until February 13, 2022 at 5:00 PM.

Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in Cortland County
• The vaccinations will be offered three days a week from December 28, 2021 until February 5, 2022.
• The pop up clinics will be at a different location each week and held from 10 am to 7 pm.
• Boosters and initial series vaccinations for both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) will be offered for all eligible age groups.
• Cortland County is offering transportation assistance through free Dial-a-Ride services to and from any of the clinics between 8 am and 1pm weekdays, please call Cortland Transit at 607-758-3383 to schedule transportation in advance.
• There will also be a Cortland Transit bus route to and from the Truxton Clinic on January 8th and January 29th with pick up spots at the Cortland County Office Building, McGraw Elementary School , and Cincinnatus Junior Senior High School If you need any assistance with navigating bus maps, bus routes or assessing your best transportation option, feel free to contact Melissa Potter, Cortland County Mobility Manager, at 607-756-3416 or [email protected].
Clinics will be open from 10 am to 7 pm each day except when otherwise noted.
• Week 1 is at the Marathon Civic Building 11 Brink Street, Marathon NY on December 28th, December 29th and December 30th
• Week 2 is at the Truxton Academy Charter School, 6337 Academy Street, Truxton NY, on January 6th, January 7th and January 8th, with a pause from 2-4 pm on school days for bus pickups.
• Week 3 is at the Port Watson Mini Conference Center, 131 Port Watson Street, Cortland NY on January 13th, January 14th and January 15th •
• Week 4 is at the Marathon Civic Building 11 Brink Street, Marathon NY on January 18th, January 19th and January 20th . •

Cortland County COVID positives are increasing. Please consider a vaccination if you are currently unvaccinated. Over 90% of those individuals hospitalized for COVID are unvaccinated. Be well and take care.

Today SUNY, Cortland County and Guthrie held a vaccination clinic and vaccinated over 360 individuals. Good job! Also, the County's Area Agency on Aging is daily connecting with folks over 65+ to help them enroll in clinics. We have a great team!

Our collaborative team, SUNY, Guthrie and Cortland County held a clinic on Wednesday, February 10th. 413 doses were administered to 1B eligible individuals. Next week there will be two clinics, one for second doses and another for 1st doses. These clinics continue to be closed, i.e. the County directly registers eligible individuals.
