Construction on the north side of town could delay Corsicana ISD buses the rest of September. To stay up to date, visit www.cisd.org/page/transportation and download the BusRight app.
From the City of Corsicana, Beaton Street from 1st Ave. to Hardy Ave. will receive new blacktop. The road from Fannin Elementary to Hardy Ave. is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.
Here are streets that could see bus delays during the project: Edgewood, Oakridge, McKinney, Dartmouth, City, Fishtank, McKnight Lane, Country Club Road, Country Club Drive, Fairfax, and Mimosa.

The Beaton Street asphalt overlay project will begin at 1st Ave. working north to Hardy Ave. The portion of the project from Fannin Elementary to Hardy Ave. is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12th to avoid school interruptions.

ALL CARS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET BEFORE SEPT 8. A pilot car will lead one lane of traffic up and down Beaton. Please consider alternate routes during this time.

NO PARKING ON THE STREET Sept. 8th – 30th to avoid delays and the additional work of towing cars at owner's expense. If you have a non-working car on the street, it MUST be moved prior to September 8th. Please share with neighbors.

We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Mike Montfort (Nov. 24, 1954 – Sept. 3, 2026), at age 71. A longtime educator, sports journalist, and dedicated statistician, Mike left a lasting mark on our local athletic community.
A Corsicana High School class of 1973 graduate, Mike devoted decades to area sports coverage and education.
Early in his career, he covered local athletics for the Corsicana Daily Sun, and went on to teach Spanish and Journalism at Frost ISD for 22 years while serving as a trusted sports statistician for Corsicana ISD and Navarro College.
Montfort was a thorough and meticulous statistician, and he kept a separate stats package for Corsicana High School’s all-time leading rusher, Ketric Sanford, which he titled the “Ketric System.”
It was through his work as a statistician that the Corsicana Daily Sun’s Golden Circle Offensive Player of the Year Award was named in his honor.
From 2012 to 2026, he served as Navarro College’s Sports Information Specialist, and was inducted into the Bulldog Hall of Fame in 2025.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Mike’s family, friends, former students, and colleagues throughout Corsicana ISD, Frost ISD, and Navarro College.

Lamentamos comunicar el fallecimiento de Mike Montfort (24 de noviembre de 1954 – 3 de septiembre de 2026) a los 71 años de edad. Como educador de larga trayectoria, periodista deportivo y estadístico dedicado, Mike dejó una huella imborrable en nuestra comunidad deportiva local.
Graduado de la promoción de 1973 de la escuela secundaria Corsicana High School, Mike dedicó décadas a la cobertura deportiva de la zona y a la educación.
Al inicio de su carrera, cubrió deportes locales para el periódico *Corsicana Daily Sun* y posteriormente impartió clases de español y periodismo en el distrito escolar Frost ISD durante 22 años, al tiempo que colaboraba como estadístico deportivo de confianza para el distrito Corsicana ISD y Navarro College.

Friday night the events start in downtown, but on Saturday, Sept. 19 it moves to Community National Bank & Trust of Texas Stadium. 📽️ : Did someone say, “PARADE?!” 📣 The Corsicana Homecoming Parade is back, with a new theme, “ICONIC,” during this, the 40th anniversary of the Corsicana “C" logo. Join us downtown at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 to celebrate our traditions, our students, and our community ahead of our Homecoming game against Burleson the following night. A pep rally will follow, and this year’s Homecoming King will be announced. You have to attend the game to find out who the queen is, but you can meet the court downtown!
