To help provide clarity for the community regarding the fireworks, we wanted to share some additional information about the decision that was made.
While we agree that having multiple fireworks displays in the city would be fantastic, there were several factors that led to this outcome. Due to SKM PYRO already being booked every weekend leading up to and including the Fourth of July holiday, it was not possible to reschedule the Corry Fest fireworks to a different weekend.
We would also like to clarify that the Corry Police Department did not request that our event become the rain date for the Corry Fest fireworks. Rather, due to the close proximity of our event—which already included a fireworks display—we were informed that this would be the rain date plan. Given the circumstances and limited options available, it was felt that combining the two shows was the best way to make the most of an unfortunate situation and provide the community with an even larger fireworks display.
Additionally, the location where the fireworks will be launched for our event, Homestead Produce, offers viewing opportunities very similar to those available during Corry Fest. North Hills Golf Course has both its regular parking areas and a large overflow parking lot available in the field. Once parking at the golf course reaches capacity, attendees will be directed to park at the plaza, which provides a viewing experience similar to what many residents have enjoyed during past Corry Fest fireworks displays.
We understand that not everyone will agree with the decision, but we hope this explanation helps provide some additional context. Our goal is simply to provide the community with the best event possible under the circumstances, and we hope everyone can come together to enjoy what should be a fantastic evening for Corry.
