A new look!
Thanks to the efforts of a long faithful director, the entrance to these hallowed grounds has received a much needed face lift.
The previous entry was made possible by another dedicated director, the late O'Lena Jones Perkins - who, along with her husband, inventoried the entire cemetery in the early 2000's. The data was compiled into a book and sold - with all proceeds designated for a decorative entrance. (A commemorative plaque is located on the right post.) Those efforts served the cemetery well for approximately 25 years. Unfortunately, the elements, and also a piece of equipment some years back, had taken a toll on the entryway.
A couple of months ago, a director (who wishes no recognition) took to task the chore of having a replacement - or upgrade - constructed. It is through his vision and design, along with his generosity and relationships, that the Union Springs Cemetery entrance has been greatly enhanced.
The skillful hands of Chris Felder crafted the piece in his Moscow shop; with Charles Kennedy handling the painting. Mr. Felder installed the piece this past Wednesday.
The Union Springs Cemetery Association is extremely appreciative of the talents AND charity provided by each of these three gentlemen!
