When I got elected I was horrified to learn that there was no mechanism to ban bad actors who are teaching but uncertified. 89th passed legislation to not only establish a “Do not Hire” list but also phase out uncertified individuals in Texas classrooms. YUGE win for Texas families, thank you, Commissioner Morath.

What’s great start to my day giving some SBOE remarks at today IMRA Kick-Off meeting.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science at UNT in Denton as part of my work chairing the math committee.

During my visit, I connected with some of Texas’ top-performing math students and had meaningful conversations about how they can help support and inspire their peers across K–12 education. Their insight, dedication, and passion for learning were truly inspiring and give me great confidence in the future of math education.
