Welcome Kristy Urbick, Ed.D. to the Texas Coastal Bend Board of Directors!
Kristy is a higher education leader and educator who is passionate about expanding opportunities for students and strengthening the Corpus Christi community. She currently serves as Chair of the Kinesiology and Education Department at Del Mar College, where she focuses on supporting student success and developing future educators and professionals. With more than 10 years of experience in higher education, Kristy has spent most of her career in the classroom, working directly with students and creating learning environments that build confidence, support growth, and lead to long-term success. Beyond the classroom, she has taken an active role in supporting the college through service on campus-wide committees and leadership initiatives focused on student success and institutional improvement. She currently serves on the Foundation Board for the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (TAHPERD) and previously served as Vice President of Finance for the Texas Outdoor Education Association (TOEA), where she gained experience in budgeting, oversight, and organizational decision-making. Kristy also recently completed Leadership Corpus Christi, an experience that strengthened her understanding of the community and how different sectors work together to create impact.
Kristy is passionate about giving back and sees service as an important responsibility. She values the role that mentorship, guidance, and community support play in helping others succeed and believes strongly in investing in the next generation. She is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young people and contributing to a stronger, more connected community. We are excited to have Kristy and her commitment to mentorship and connection to the community!
