How can AI help communities make better flood decisions and where does it fall short?

Join CBI’s Dr. Philippe Tissot as he joins a panel of experts for a timely webinar exploring the evolving role of AI and predictive models in weather and flood forecasting.

The discussion will examine where today’s forecasting tools excel, where they fall short, and why combining predictive models with real-time water observations creates a more complete picture for decision makers.

πŸ“… Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 3 PM CT / 4 PM ET
πŸ’» Online Zoom webinar

Topics will include AI forecasting capabilities and limitations, the importance of real-time observational data, and a live Q&A.

Researchers with CBI's Measurement Analytics (MANTIS) Lab took UAS mapping education to the U.S. Virgin Islands this summer!

Dr. Michael Starek, CBI Chair for Remote Sensing & Autonomous Systems for Geomatics and MANTIS Lab Director, and Research Engineering Associate Jake Berryhill served as instructors for a two-day UAS field workshop that was hosted at the University of the Virgin Islands in collaboration with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the University of Notre Dame.

Held as part of GEIMS Center outreach efforts, the workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) mapping of coastal environments, particularly to survey datums. Through guided instruction, field data collection and data processing, participants experienced the UAS mapping workflow from start to finish.

The workshop brought together participants from universities across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, along with representatives from the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources and others.
