Joint Training with ESD2

NASCC Fire & Emergency Services trained alongside our mutual aid partners at ESD2 during a joint exercise at NASCC.

The scenario involved a simulated second-floor bathroom fire. Crews worked together on fire attack, water supply, search, backup line, RIT, medical, and unified command. Ladders were thrown for secondary egress, and overhaul was completed after knockdown.

The main focus was coordination, communication, and strengthening synergy between agencies. Training together ensures we operate seamlessly when it matters most.

We appreciate the continued partnership with ESD2 and the strong teamwork demonstrated by all crews.

Today, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi Fire and Emergency Services had the honor of recognizing the 2025 Fire Officer of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.

Congratulations to Captain Brian Ray, named Fire Officer of the Year, and Firefighter Robert Viafranco, selected as Firefighter of the Year. Their professionalism, hard work, and dedication to service have been instrumental to the continued success and excellence of our department.

We commend both members for their outstanding contributions and commitment to the mission.

Today, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi Fire and Emergency Services had the honor of recognizing the retirement of Firefighter Gilbert Rojas. Firefighter Rojas proudly served 24 years in the fire service, demonstrating exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public safety throughout his career.

We extend our sincere gratitude for his years of service. His knowledge, experience, and contributions will be greatly missed. We wish Firefighter Rojas continued success, fulfillment, and good health in his retirement and future endeavors.

As part of a mutual aid response, E-1021 and C-1003 responded to an off-base structure fire. C-1003 arrived on scene and established command, while E-1021, the first-arriving apparatus, quickly deployed a hose line to prevent further fire spread.

Due to the rapid, coordinated actions of all responding units, no occupied residential structures sustained damage.

Strong work by all responders involved. 👏🔥

This morning, our friends at Navy MWR Corpus Christi hosted an awesome holiday event — and Santa made the grandest entrance of all time… arriving by U.S. Coast Guard helicopter! 🚁✨

Our crews jumped right into the fun, with Firefighter Wren giving special tours of our ARFF truck. The kids absolutely loved climbing into the cab, trying out the seat, and getting a front row view of what it’s like to be a NASCC firefighter! 👨‍🚒❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Navy MWR for putting together such a great event and inviting us to be a part of the holiday magic. And thank you to all the families who stopped by — you made our day!

Today our firefighters and their families gathered for our annual Thanksgiving meal at the station. We’re grateful for the incredible support from our NAS Corpus Christi community and for the opportunity to serve — holidays included.

Thank you to everyone who helped prepare food, carve turkeys, and make this day feel like home. From our firehouse family to the entire NASCC community, we wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
