There’s a medium 50% chance for an area of low pressure to develop into a tropical system. The disturbance just south of the southeastern LA coast is expected to drift WNW over the next few days and reach the LA/TX coast Tuesday or Tuesday night. Regardless of development, direct impacts to South Texas are not expected at this time, although an increase in rain chances is possible. Interests to South Texas should monitor the forecast closely as updates are provided.

investigate the low-pressure area on Monday morning.

Warm and dry conditions are expected across the majority of South
Texas this week, with the exception being the Victoria Crossroads.
As the tropical disturbance across the northern Gulf continues
moving west-northwest ward, warm moist air will advect into the
region. This will promote heat index values of 109-111 degrees and
moderate to extreme levels of heat risk. If the tropical disturbance
was to get better organize and strengthen (currently 50% chance for
the next 48 hours), it can become a short-lived tropical depression
or tropical storm. As of this moment, no direct impacts are
anticipated except for medium (40-60%) chances for showers and
thunderstorms across the Victoria Crossroads.
