Ms. Yvonne Magallan is thrilled to join the Ella Barnes Elementary Stars family as Assistant Principal! With more than 20 years in education and experience as a classroom teacher, campus leader, and Instructional Coach, she is passionate about supporting both students and teachers in reaching their full potential.

With 27 years of experience in public education and 15 years of campus leadership, Mrs. Hernandez brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to student success. A proud Corpus Christi native, she is excited to serve the community she calls home and partner with our students, staff, and families.

Mrs. Hernandez is inspired by the joy of learning and is committed to helping every child grow, achieve, and reach their full potential. Mrs. Hernandez states, "What I love most about education is seeing the spark in a child's eyes when they learn something new. Floating into the Summer & Floating into Second Grade!

Today our amazing First Grade students celebrated the end of a wonderful school year with a fun parade! Our hallways were filled with smiles, excitement, and lots of cheering as students, staff, and families came out to support and celebrate them.

We are so proud of all they have accomplished this year and can’t wait to see them soar in Second Grade! 🌟

What an amazing day for our Barnes Running Club at the Beach to Bay Relay! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Our boys team brought home 1st Place in their division, and our coed team 2nd place in their division! We could not be more proud of the hard work, determination, and heart our students showed throughout this season and during the race. A huge thank you to our incredible coach for dedicating your time to training and encouraging our students every step of the way. Your commitment truly made a difference. Thank you as well to all of our supportive parents and our wonderful community for cheering on our runners and helping make this experience possible. What a great turnout for our 4th Annual Fancy Nancy Literature Tea Party! Special guest reader, Pete the Cat, helped make the day extra fun and memorable for our students.

One of the highlights of the event was watching our 4th graders partner with a PreK student to read together and share the joy of literacy. Our Reading Fairies — made up of wonderful volunteers and district guests — also helped spread the magic of reading by giving every child a book to take home.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, and guests who helped make this event so special. We appreciate your support in creating meaningful literacy experiences for our children! 💕
