Corpus Christi Storm Water employees were at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex Saturday handing out sandbags to help residents prepare for the storm season.
If you missed this event, don’t worry! The City is hosting another sandbag giveaway on Saturday, June 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex at 3061 Saratoga Boulevard to pick up your sandbags.

In preparation for the current hurricane season, the Corpus Christi Public Works Department will offer residents free pre-filled sandbags at two upcoming events at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex, located at 3061 Saratoga Boulevard. The right, eastbound lane of Saratoga Boulevard between Ayers Street and Kostoryz Road is reserved for the events. Residents will not be able to make a U-turn from the westbound lane of Saratoga Boulevard to enter the line.
Sandbag Distribution Events:
Saturday, June 13
• 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until all sandbags have been distributed)
Saturday, June 27
• 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (or until all bags have been distributed)
Residents:
• 8 free sandbags per vehicle
• Clear an area in your trunk or bed of your vehicle
• Remain inside your vehicles during loading

Our Stormwater team has swept 21,829.65 curb miles of City roads and removed 2,892.49 tons of debris since October ... that's the weight of over 438 adult African elephants! Thank you to our crews for helping keep this trash out of our bay. ♻️

🌊 Exciting news! The City's Environmental Quality team and the Texas Coastal Bend Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation have placed 142 storm drain inlet markers around the Barnes Elementary School area! These reminders show how trash on the ground can impact our beautiful bay. ♻️💚
