Dear C-Cause Members:
New Location
It has been a wonderful week! We have, with your help, moved to new offices. We are leaving an office with 1700 square feet to new offices which will have almost 3000 square feet. The offices are being built as we speak. Our new location is 4855 S. Alameda, Suite 202, 78412.
We have currently moved into half of our office right now, and will be able to move into the other half as soon as they are finished building our other offices in two to three weeks. We are on the corner of S. Alameda and Airline, behind the CVS Pharmacy.
I know, CCAUSE members, that you will be proud of how large we have grown. None of this can happen without your support and membership. Our open house will be coming soon, and I guarantee we will have an awesome party to celebrate!
Updates on West Oso ISD
During our move, we have also been keeping up with all of your concerns and problems. As you know, West Oso ISD is still going through a very hard time, and we are very grateful that it is not happening at CCISD. We are asking our members, if possible, to support your colleagues in West Oso ISD. There will be a meeting on the day after Labor Day at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building at West Oso. Please come out and support teachers that need our help. Join with them at their school board meeting in asking for teachers and staff to be treated as professionals, and to be treated with dignity and respect.
The one piece of good news is that Coronado Garcia, former principal of Moody High School, has been chosen as Assistant Superintendent at West Oso ISD. We wish him only the best and hope that he will be able to resolve some of the major problem centering around West Oso ISD.
CCISD Updates
CCISD’s Monday agenda will be reviewing what boundaries will look like for the high schools, as well as the other schools that could be affected by the new high school. The item is a report by Dr. Elliff on the high school update.
In CCISD, we are still fighting at a few schools concerning planning time. Please remember that if you have two planning periods, one of them belongs to the district. They can use it anyway they want, however, if you only have one planning time, that belongs to you and cannot be taken away.
Consultation has just begun discussions regarding salaries. Administration in the budget has placed a 3% raise at the midpoint value for teachers and staff. The consultation committee has proposed a 5% increase. During the President’s Meeting, we also made a proposal of at least a 4% to 5% increase. The process is a long one, and we will see what develops before the next school year starts.
I am sure you have been able to view all of the items that have gone through consultation during the past year that was distributed by the administration at our last consultation meeting. I ask you to remember one of the good things that has happened in consultations during this process. Dr. Elliff has changed policy that states anyone that brings proposals from any member, whether it is consultation members, AFT ,ATPE or CCAUSE, will be accepted for his consideration. This has worked very well. The answers you see in consultation involved the whole team and not just one organization.
We will be posting those consultation agreements on our website. We will keep updating you on our progress now that we have moved into an office that is easier to visit. We are open for business and ready to go. I hope the rest of May and the beginning of June brings you nothing but peace and tranquility as we close another school year
