For 251 years, the U.S. Army has stood as the vanguard of American liberty. We honor the legacy of our fallen by delivering unmatched lethality. Today's Soldier is trained, equipped, and prepared to deter any adversary and dominate any future environment.

Have you ever wondered how Crecy Street on Naval Air Station Corpus Christi got its name?

Situated in front of the former Corpus Christi Army Depot headquarters, this street honored a local hero and legendary World War II Soldier.

Named after the 29th president of the United States, Warren Gamaliel Harding Crecy was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Jan. 4, 1923. He graduated from Solomon M. Coles High School in downtown Corpus Christi in 1941, just before the nation entered the war.

On April 12, 1942, Crecy enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Sam Houston. Following recruit training, he was assigned to the historic 761st Tank Battalion, the famed "Black Panthers.

Following World War II, Crecy remained in Germany, where his assignments included serving as a prison officer during the historic Nuremberg trials. He eventually reached the rank of major.

Today, Maj. Crecy rests in Arlington National Cemetery, but his legacy remains permanently etched into the history of his hometown. Next time you drive down Crecy Street, take a moment to remember the Corpus Christi native who fought with unmatched bravery for our freedom.

What began two years ago as an initiative by Col. Consedine continues to succeed today.

"Coffee and Donuts" continues to serve as a vital opportunity for leadership to directly engage with the workforce. These informal gatherings allow the Command suite to recognize the high-impact performers, share key organizational updates, and hear about any challenges that might stand in the way of daily production.

This quarter’s session carried special significance as it marked the final "Coffee and Donuts" with Sgt. Maj. Rickert.

Reflecting on his time with the command, Rickert expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead such an outstanding workforce. He urged everyone to warmly welcome the incoming sergeant major, requesting the team to grant his successor the same opportunity to serve and support them.

Col. Consedine closed the session by thanking the entire workforce for its dedication, adaptability, and resilience during these transformative times.

On June 6, 1944, nearly 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily fortified French coastline to fight N**i Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France.

More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day's end, the Allies had gained a foothold in continental Europe.

The massive undertaking required unprecedented cooperation between international armed forces. The Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force was a massive international coalition. The military leadership responsible for Operation Overlord had to overcome political, cultural, and personal tensions, despite the Allies' unity against Germany.

To insert troops behind enemy lines during the early hours of the invasion, the Allies relied heavily on fixed-wing transport and unpowered gliders.

What does the "D" in D-Day stand for? Many explanations have been given: The French maintain the "D" means "disembarkation"; others say “debarkation,” and the more poetic insist it is short for “day of decision.”

However, when someone wrote to Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1964 asking for an explanation, his executive assistant, Brig. Gen. Robert Schultz, answered: “General Eisenhower asked me to respond to your letter. Be advised that any amphibious operation has a "departed date"; therefore, the shortened term "D-Day."

CCAD remembers.

Congratulations to CWO4 Christopher K. Lawrence!

Today, COL Kevin J. Consedine presented Lawrence with the Meritorious Service Medal and command coin in recognition of his exceptional leadership and technical expertise as a standardization Instructor pilot, which directly contributed to the Army’s aviation modernization efforts.

COL Consedine said, “The strategic implication of what we do in Army Aviation Sustainment—he [Lawrence] will be able to apply that context at his next organization.”

Lawrence expressed appreciation to leadership for their mentorship, “I’ve built friendships and established strong working relationships." He said, "As I return to the regular Army, I know I can rely on the depot for answers.”

The Army Organic Industrial Base remains vital to the Defense Industrial Base, ensuring readiness, operational capability, and surge capacity for the nation.

Congratulations to CW03 Drew Fullmer on receiving the Meritorious Service Medal and the new command coin!

As a maintenance evaluator, CW03 Fullmer recently resolved a critical aircraft fault during an in-flight emergency. His expert diagnostic skills averted a catastrophe, saving the crew and a multimillion-dollar aircraft.

Colonel Kevin J. Consedine applauded his actions:

“A mentor once told me, when you're talking about maintenance test pilots, there are three things that you're looking for: a high level of maturity and judgment, technical acumen and proficiency, and they need to be brave. Drew is an incredible readiness driver.”

“This has been really a great place,” said CW03 Fullmer. “I am going to miss it.”

CCAD remains capable of supporting current and evolving readiness requirements at the speed of war in a contested environment.
