Dean did not have the vest on when he entered Maia’s house. She said he had a headache and was laying down. Why would he have the vest on him when he was shot?

The truth is coming out, karma will prevail. Holding it in is ruining your life. And it is already eating away and starting to reveal itself. Just be honest and tell the truth.

3 years ago, 3 years ago lies were being told, and over and over the stories changed. I didn’t realize the police and detectives were NOT working Deans case at this time. But I felt she was lying and none of her stories were the same. So I videoed everything. Because I know something wasn’t right. All I ever asked was she tell the truth, that’s all I asked, but she ran to Tennessee and hid for 1 1/2 years. Why? Why did she run after she told the detectives she wouldn’t come talk without a lawyer and she didn’t have a lawyer. Then right after that she RAN. Guilty???

Justice for Dean Scott Blair

Dean Scott Blair
December 26, 2004 – May 27, 2023
Dean Blair was 18 years old when he was shot in Corpus Christi on May 25, 2023. He had recently completed Army Basic Training and AIT and had just begun serving with his Army Reserve unit. He loved serving his country and had even volunteered for deployment to Poland.
Dean graduated high school early so he could enlist. He was applying for jobs with the jail and Border Patrol and had plans for his future when he returned from military service.
On May 25, 2023, Dean and I exchanged normal text messages about chores and finishing a job application. Around 6:50 PM he called me and said he would be home after selling a mattress through Facebook Marketplace. He sounded completely normal.
At approximately 9:30 PM, I received a call telling me I needed to get to the hospital immediately because Dean had been shot.
At the hospital, staff told me police believed Dean had shot himself. However, when I arrived there were no officers present speaking with the family. I later learned that very little investigation had occurred at the scene.
The individuals present at the house gave inconsistent statements. The stories changed repeatedly over the three days Dean remained alive in the hospital. I recorded many of these conversations because things did not make sense.
There are multiple unanswered questions:

* Why were witnesses reportedly not properly interviewed?
* Why were no hands tested for gunshot residue?
* Why was evidence reportedly not collected or preserved?
* Why were there inconsistencies between EMS reports, hospital records, and police reports?
* Why were two 9mm shell casings later recovered from Dean’s clothing when the reported weapon was a .22 firearm?
* Why was the case initially treated as a su***de within minutes?
According to the scene description, Dean was found seated on the edge of the bed with the firearm between his feet. Accounts of how he was discovered reportedly differ between witnesses, neighbors, EMS, and police.
I repeatedly requested records and body camera footage. Even after involvement from the Attorney General’s office, important records were still withheld.
After I pushed for answers, the case was reportedly reopened. However, I was discouraged from pursuing the investigation further and told the case was not a priority.
Dean survived until May 27, 2023. I made the difficult decision to donate his organs. Because of Dean, six lives were saved.
Our family continues to seek a full and proper investigation into what happened to Dean that night.

Karma comes back at you. All I ask was you tell the truth and stop running. Karma will get you. Your conscience will get you. Running never works. It gets to you.

Are you safe when you die? Is your loved ones safe when they die? Dean was NOT, and many others are NOT. Think about this.

To the Members of the City Council,

My name is Diane Blair, the mother of PFC Dean Scott Blair. My son was born December 26, 2004, and was tragically killed on May 27, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dean had just completed Basic Training and AIT for the United States Army. He was only 18 years old and had his entire future ahead of him.

I am writing to you today because I have been fighting for the truth about my son’s death for nearly three years, and I have been met with silence, resistance, and a lack of accountability from the very people who are supposed to serve and protect the public.

From the very beginning, Dean’s death was quickly labeled a su***de before a proper investigation had even taken place. The first responding officer made that determination within minutes of arriving on the scene—without even seeing my son. A detective later confirmed the same conclusion almost immediately, without conducting a thorough investigation.

There were individuals present at the home the night my son died who were never interviewed by police and were even told to leave the scene. One of those individuals was the last person known to be with my son. Despite this, their statements were never formally taken. As a mother seeking answers, this is deeply troubling.

I have also requested body camera footage related to the investigation, which has been denied to me. I appealed this decision to the Attorney General, but access has still been refused. Transparency should not be something a grieving mother has to fight for.

Additionally, the Medical Examiner placed statements in the report, including claims of depression, without any supporting medical records or investigation with family or friends. This raises serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of the official report.

I have reached out to the Mayor of Corpus Christi for help and support in simply obtaining transparency and accountability in my son’s case. Unfortunately, I received no meaningful assistance. As a citizen and as a mother, I expected leadership from the Mayor’s office when concerns about a possible wrongful death investigation were raised. Instead, I was left to continue this fight alone.

I am asking the City Council to take this matter seriously and to help ensure that my son’s death receives the thorough and unbiased investigation it deserves. No family should have to spend years fighting for basic answers when their child dies under suspicious circumstances.

My son served his country and had a heart for helping others. He deserved better than what has happened since his death.

I respectfully ask for your assistance in calling for an independent review of the investigation into Dean Scott Blair’s death and in ensuring transparency and accountability from the agencies involved.

This is not just about my son—it is about trust in our institutions and the responsibility of our city to ensure justice for all of its citizens.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Diane Blair
Mother of PFC Dean Scott Blair
