Today, Air Station Corpus Christi had the privilege of hosting a visit from the Colombian War College.

Guests received a guided tour of our facilities and gained insight into our mission, operational capabilities, organizational structure, aviation maintenance programs, and training processes. The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices and strengthen professional partnerships through shared aviation experience and collaboration.

The Colombian aviation community operates variants of the MH-65 Dolphin and HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft, making this engagement especially valuable as both organizations discussed common operational and maintenance perspectives.

We are proud to foster international partnerships that enhance interoperability, professional development, and mutual understanding in support of global maritime aviation and search and rescue operations.

Re-Enlistment Spotlight – Making Waves in Corpus Christi!

HS1 Richey took re-enlistment to the next level by diving into the rigorous Duck syllabus and raising her right hand in the water right here in Corpus Christi, TX.

With LT Cooley administering the oath, this special moment marked a huge milestone—April 17th celebrates 14 years of dedicated service, with 6 more years committed to the mission ahead!

Her Coast Guard journey has been nothing short of inspiring-While stationed here from 2012–2015 with HarborFac, she spent time shadowing HS’s at Hangar 41, and even embarked on CGC BRANDT for a year!
From humble beginnings to seasoned professional, her journey is a testament to perseverance, growth, and staying grounded.
✨ “Every expert was once a beginner.”
✨ “Stay humble. Start where you are. Give yourself grace.”

Here’s to HS1 Richey—making waves, setting the standard, and showing us all how it’s done. Bravo Zulu and cheers to the next 6 years!

Teamwork from above! 🚁

Air Station Corpus Christi teamed up with the Texas State Aquarium Wildlife Rescue to search the area and comb the bays from a bird’s-eye view!

From the helicopter, our aircrews located 15 cold-stunned sea turtles and relayed their positions to U.S. Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi allowing recovery teams to be quickly activated and respond-

🚨🐢 COLD-STUNNED TURTLE ALERT in Texas! 🐢🚨
Heads up! With forecasts predicting temperatures to drop below 50°F soon, sea turtles are at risk of cold-stunning - a condition where they become weak and inactive due to the cold. These turtles may become lethargic, unable to swim, and could be washed ashore. Without timely rescue, they face serious health risks, even death.

Be on the lookout for stranded sea turtles in Corpus Christi Bay, Matagorda Bay, and Upper/Lower Laguna Madre. 👀 If you're in Texas bays, channels, or passes, stay alert!

🚫🌊 If you find a sea turtle on the beach, DO NOT put it back in the water! Cold water can be fatal for these endangered sea turtles.

📞 See one? Call the Texas Sea Turtle Info Line: 1-866-TURTLE-5 (887-8535) for guidance.
Spread the word to protect our sea turtles! 🌊🐢

Happy 139th Birthday to Cmdr. Elmer Stone!

Today we’re celebrating a true legend of Coast Guard aviation — Cmdr. Elmer Stone, the first Coast Guard aviator and U.S. Naval Aviation Hall of Honor recipient.

Cmdr. Stone began his Coast Guard career aboard the Revenue Cutter Onondaga as a line officer before making history on 20 March 1920, when he was officially designated Coast Guard Aviator No. 1

From 1920–1926, he served with the Navy’s Bureau of Aeronautics as a test pilot, helping develop shipboard catapult systems and arresting gear for the Navy’s first aircraft carriers — USS Lexington and USS Saratoga.

More than a century later, Cmdr. Stone’s impact is still felt across Coast Guard aviation — including right here at Air Station Corpus Christi.

🫡 Thank you, Cmdr. Stone, for your service, innovation, and legacy that continues to inspire Coast Guard aviators to this day.

This week at Air Station Corpus Christi, members took part in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) - a course focused on what matters most: taking care of our people before, during, and after critical incidents. CISM equips our members and families with peer support, education, and professional resources to stay resilient, mission-ready, and supported when it counts!

A special highlight of the day was a visit from K9 Justice, the official Corpus Christi Police Department therapy dog . This golden girl provides Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) to officers, first responders, children, and victims of trauma—bringing comfort, calm, and connection when it’s needed most.

Strong networks, meaningful relationships, and learning how to support one another is what we foster in South Texas!

Two Lives Saved 🚁

Air Station Corpus Christi was launched in response to a report of a stranded vessel near Bird Island. Upon arrival, the crew located a distressed vessel that had run aground with two fishermen on board.
Due to the shallow water, a tow was not possible.

Both individuals were safely transported and relocated ashore.

Outstanding teamwork and decision-making ensured a safe outcome for everyone involved.

Bravo Zulu to the crew!
